Kimchee Korean Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
Review: A Flavorful Journey at This Local Korean Gem Tucked away in our neighborhood is a Korean restaurant that deserves way more attention than it gets. From the moment you step in, you're welcomed with warm hospitality, cozy vibes, and the tantalizing aroma of sizzling meats and fermented spices—this place instantly feels like a second home. I started with the kimchi pancake (kimchi jeon), which was perfectly crisp on the outside with just the right amount of heat and tang. The banchan (small side dishes) arrived next—fresh, varied, and generously portioned. Each one brought a new flavor and texture to the table, from pickled radish to spicy cucumber salad. The real star of the show was the bulgogi—thin slices of marinated beef, tender and juicy, cooked to perfection with a balance of sweetness and umami that made every bite addictive. We also tried the galbi (Korean short ribs), which were fall-off-the-bone tender and deeply flavorful with a smoky char that added the perfect finish. Service was attentive but never rushed. The staff made great recommendations and took time to explain some traditional elements of the meal, which added a nice personal touch. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Whether you’re a Korean food enthusiast or new to the cuisine, this spot is absolutely worth visiting. Authentic flavors, warm service, and a menu that keeps calling you back—this local Korean restaurant might just become your new favorite. Rating: 5/5
Had a very nice experience, we had the Army Stew Hotpot for 2 (Can Feed at least 3) Owner also came out to greet us and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely come back because the short ribs looked amazing! Also the owner makes the Kimchi and banchan. Not store bought.
Kimchee Korean on coffee deserves their flowers!!! The service, the food, all of it The service- The one that runs the floor is the owner/chefs daughter and she really truly is so sweet, and makes sure all of her guests are taken care of! Her mom, the chef is the same way! She sits with her guests, talks to them, brings things for them to try and makes amazing food. They even talk about their food and where certain food items come from. Now the food!!! I don’t even know what to say! It’s phenomenal! Fresh! Just I feel like there isn’t much I could say except GO! ASAP!!! I’ve been here three times. First time with my family, second time my husband got me some to go to take to work (night shift nurse) and it reheated amazingly! And today with my daughter! I’ve told everyone about this place you gotta go!! Good food is our love language, and I could eat hear everyday! Five billion stars from me!!!
My cousin wanted to try it out. GREAT place! The food was on-point, and our server was very informative & helpful. She told the restaurant’s background and the chef’s background: it’s her Mom. You rarely can’t get better than someone’s Mom’s cooking, and that night, Kimchee’s was it. There were a group of older Koreans eating and chatting, and that’s a good sign. The decor has photos that are lush & gorgeous to study. Highly recommended!!
We got there right before 5. and soon after the restaurant was packed. every table was full. thats a good sign we order dumplings, dough was very fresh, kalby and beef sundubu. all banchan was so fresh. crunchy kimchi and cucumber. got seconds. our server was quick, respectful. restaurant was clean and modern. parking lot is good
Awesome new restaurant in Bakersfield. Ordered the special of the day, which was very fitting for the cold winter day. It was delicious. The service was excellent and its a wonderful family ran business. Everything is new, modern and clean. Will be added to my routine of my go-to restaurants.
Was on vacation and figured I would try this new place that recently opened in Bakersfield. Food was amazing, cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I love Korean food one of my favorite Asian cuisines, and this did not disappoint. Im from Hawaii and figured id get some of the basics. Tried the cutlet, kalbi and the sweet and spicy wings. For some reason it just had a more authentic taste, reminded me of home in the 808. Service was top notch, the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Paid attention to detail and knowledgeable with the menu. You can beat the ambience there as well. Maybe because its a fairly new restaurant but the choice of decor for the interior compliments it well and makes you feel as if youre at a fine dining place. If youre ever in Bakersfield or just want some bomb ads Korean food this is the spot. All homemade and passed down recipes.
Got the Pork Belly Kimchi Stew. Comes with a side of purple rice and banchan. Everything was delicious! The staff were very friendly, would definitely eat here again.

The standout here is the deep respect for tradition paired with freshness. The owner and chef, a mother-and-daughter duo, bring heart and heritage to every dish. Their homemade kimchi and banchan elevate the meal beyond what you typically find, offering a vibrant array of textures and flavors—from crisp, tangy kimchi to the spicy crunch of cucumber salad. Speaking of mains, the bulgogi is a revelation. Thin slices of marinated beef, tender and juicy with an exquisite balance of sweetness and umami, leave a lingering impression. Equally impressive are the galbi, Korean short ribs that fall off the bone with a smoky char that perfectly finishes the dish. The Army Stew Hotpot, generous in size and flavor, is another highlight worthy of sharing and savoring.
